Ever since I was a little girl I’ve dreamed about what I would grow up to be. Everyone has at some point in their life. Some dreams are meant to stay dreams – fantasies – fairy tales, but sometimes we hold on to those dreams and try to make them a reality. Though it may not seem fair, sometimes those dreams are not meant to be a reality and no matter how hard we try, the door to those dreams just keeps slamming shut. We have to remember that whenever a door slams shut, another door opens. Unfortunately, sometimes we don’t see the other door standing wide open because we are so set on THIS door. THIS slammed door is the one in our dreams. THIS slammed door is the one we had set our hopes on. We can either view the slammed door as a direction from God and look for the open door. Or we can keep trying to open the slammed door and never get anywhere. We need to realize that a slammed door means God has a different idea for our lives. So instead of being stubborn and only wanting THIS slammed door, look around because there’s another plan going on for your life, another door that is open. Don’t be so set on planning your life that you try to break through shut doors. Trust in God and know that He has a plan already made out for you.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

God had a plan for you even before the world was created. You are a special part of God’s creation. So stop trying to open that slammed door. Look for the open door and walk through. You can either spend today worrying about tomorrow and trying to open that slammed door or you can spend today living life to the fullest.

Matthew 6:34

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

How are you going to spend today? What’s your dream?  Is your door open or slammed shut? Are you pounding on a shut door or walking through an open door?
